Board members of the Perry County Board of DD are appointed in accordance with Ohio Revised Code (ORC) 5126.022 by the Board of county commissioners and the probate judge. Board members shall serve without compensation, but shall be reimbursed for necessary expenses incurred in the conduct of county Board business, including expenses that are incurred in Perry County.
The Board is required to meet at least ten times annually in regularly scheduled sessions. A Board member shall be removed for failure to attend, within one year, four regularly scheduled meetings, or failure to attend two regularly scheduled meetings with no prior notice. Each Board member must attend four hours of in-service training each year.
The Board shall hold an organizational meeting, immediately followed by a regular Board meeting, no later than the thirty-first day of January of each year and shall elect its officers, which include a president, vice-president, and recording secretary. Board meetings shall be conducted according to Roberts Rules of Order Parliamentary Procedure. A majority of the Board constitutes a quorum.
All meetings of the Perry County Board of DD are public meetings. Public notice of all meetings of the Board shall be given in accordance with Section 121.22 of the ORC. All regular and special meetings of the Perry County Board of Developmental Disabilities (PCBDD) shall be posted on the Board’s website. Special- called meetings of the PCBDD Board shall be posted at least 24 hours in advance of the meeting. Such posting on the PCBDD Board’s website shall be considered “a reasonable method whereby any person may determine the time and place of all regularly scheduled meetings, and the time, place, and purpose of all special meetings” as required by the Ohio Revised Code 121.22 (F). Written minutes of Board proceedings are open for public inspection.
