Recreation

Perry County Board of Developmental Disability Recreation Department

The adults in Perry County really enjoy going on monthly outings to exciting places and events during different times of the year. Our adults come up with many ideas for outings to choose from. They take great priced in giving these suggestions and making their own decisions. The smiles and Laughter these outings give are priceless.

We have enjoyed activities such as car racing, a school bus demolition derby, Ohio Caverns, The Renaissance Festival, and other outdoor dramas. The group also enjoys canoeing, hiking, fishing, movies, bowling, and putt/putt golf. Disney on Ice, Monster Jam, Blue Jackets Hockey games, Area Football, College Basketball games and a Cleveland Browns game.

We also have a day activities for individuals. Some of the adults like to do crafts such as basket weaving, candle making, scrapbooking and making wood shelves while others like to play card tournaments.

We try to do one big trip such as going to Disney World, Hilton Head S.C., Niagara Falls, Gatlinburg, TN or White Water Rafting in W.V.

With the help of the American Legion, Sons of American Legion, Ladies American Legion Auxiliary, VFW, Eagles, a yearly Chinese Auction and individual donations these trips are at a minimum cost to our adults. Some of our adults could not participate without the donations, fundraisers and raffles.

This is a great group to socialize with and to make things happen.
